This is a very elaborate Thomas Chippendale designed chair, from the Chippendale revival period in the 1890's.
The carving work is superb in quality and eccentricity! It was probably made by Edwards and Roberts in London, who were well known for copying the designs out of the 18th century design books, it is a remarkable and rare piece ready for a perhaps rather unusual customer ?
