Oak country mule chest from England, dates from the early 1700,s these are actually very rare with the drawer underneath, in furnishing trends it was the forbearer of the chest of drawers which developed out of chest or coffer, which gradually developed more and more drawers.
The oak has a lovely patined colour and feel consistent with nearly 300 yrs of use!
