Now this is unusual, very likely to have come out of a sleeping carriage of a steam train from the 1860's.
It appears that it has never been piped up to a drain as there are no holes at the back or base so very likely had only a bucket in the cupboard to capture the water, which would be fine for a few jugs of water!!
