Oak Tea Table ( finished )

Great care is taken in the finishing of such pieces not to damage traces of origional patina, sanding is therefore avoided as much as possible cleaning with steel wool and re-finishing using wax and oil based sealants, the exact recipe has to remain a secret .If the piece was later it would then have been French Polished.

 This table dates from 1740 and beleive it or not it still has its patina  which was built up in wax over  the centurys , despite being left out in the rain for a considerable time!!

This restoration took roughly 18hrs and produced a real gem of a piece completely un- recognisable from the wreck it started out as!
