Medway Chatham DockyardSOLD
This is a lovely work unfortunately artist unknown, accomplished work early 19th century, believed to be on the banks of the river Medway with the Naval dockyards and the huge timber sheds in the distance. There is a remarkable amount of small details such as soldiers reclining next to a fire, close to the large frigate moored, there is also in the foreground, the unmistakable rig on a Thames barge up a creek. It is oil painted on an old oak panel, the frame is of fantastic quality, lovely intact ornamentation a gilt work.
