campaign secretaire met schrijfdoosSOLD
This is a very rare early 19th century travelling campaign desk with a shelf that takes a lovely ornate writing box, the millitary often had items such as this made specialy for officers to take with them on campaign. This particular piece is not a familiar design but likely to be the ressult of a special one off commision for millitary, navy of just for an extended tour of Europe maybe. Originally the legs would have been unscrewed for transportation, a nice detail is the satinwood drawers in the left cupboard, the inscription states that the writing table was in the pocession of W M Jubb, who had aquired it from W Bell on the 3rd jan 1833, the handles on these smaller drawers are typical of the millitary furniture.
