Kneehole-bureau met geheime vakje'sSOLD
This is a very unusual piece, in fact I've never seen one before and its not in any of the books, there are kneehole desks around but this one is different in as much as it has a whole console that emerges out of the top propelled by large weights at the releasing of a catch.
It dates from 1890 and is beautifully inlaid with satinwood on mahogany in the very refined style of Thomas Sheraton, the quality is fantastic even the insides of the drawers are polished and the locks are typicaly top quality London made, it is suprising that there is no makers name to be found as it is obviously was a very expensive piece its day.
the top drawer is a secretaire , there are candle slides left and right in the ends , the two top pedestal drawers right have divisions in them .
Altogether this is a rare and special piece and garantees to grace the purchaser with a very charming conversation piece!
