This is a three hundred year old chest!! sounds unbeleivable I know but this piece dates back to around 1700, which is the William and Mary period, shortly followed by Queen Anne in 1715.
The chest is likely to have been one drawer higher, although I have found little evidence to support this, has had some restorations in the Victorian times, handles are Victorian replacements engraved Queen Anne plates, origionally it had the earlier pear drop handles, the chest id still finished in wax only and has a good pattina especially on the drawer fronts.
There are lovely crossgrain mouldings top and bottom and along the rails, bun feet are later replacements, drawers are linned in oak.
This is a rare and desirable piece for purist collectors, has a price ticket of aproxinmately half what it would be worth if it was one drawer higher!
size : 103cm x 45cm x 76cm high.
